I think I may consider this as my next vacation as I love hiking and camping.

Hi Amanda,
We coordinated our trek with Cyril Pressoir of Tour Haiti. For the actual climb up to Pic la Selle we had one of the forest rangers from the Mare Rouge forestry center go with us to the peak. This was arranged once we got to the NGO guest house the evening before.

Hope this info helps with your upcoming trek!

I travel to Haiti quite often and am hoping to get to the top of Pic de la Selle in Jan 2016. Do you have contact info for your local guide? Thanks!

And when we were researching before our trip, the information and photos available really didn’t do justice to the experience.

Danielle, you are right that even if people consider traveling to Haiti the focus is usually the beach and Laferrière Citadelle. But trekking and getting into the mountains is a completely different way to experience and understand. Highly recommended.

Adventure travel is one of my favorite ways to travel and I certainly advocate for others to experience new place in new ways. Most people do not consider Haiti unless it’s on a beach. Thank you for showing us s know opportunity to explore another Land and culture.
