No problem! Glad that the response was useful! If you need more information about the Boz-Uchuk Lakes trek or in coordinating a supported trek (e.g., guide, horses to carry gear, gear rental, etc.), get in touch with Destination Jyrgalan: https://jyrgalan.com/tours/trekking-tours/

Hi Audrey, thank you so much for your response. Jyrgalan valley was the first place I found when I started looking at Kyrgyztan places to visit and always had feeling I should do that part in those few days. Really appreciate your response, finally made my decision 🙂

Kylie, great to hear that you had such a good experience in Karakol and on the walking tour! We know Aman quite well and we agree that he’s a great guide — not only professional, but he really is able to bring to life what makes Karakol special and unique with its history, culture and cuisine. Plus, he’s a super nice guy 🙂

We really enjoyed our work with Destination Karakol to helping them develop this walking tour, their other local tours (e.g., food crawl, sunset cruise, etc.) and destination branding/identity. So glad to hear that all the work we did together is paying off!

Hi Ausra,
Thanks for the kind words about our posts! You ask a tough question here as both the Ala-Kol/Altyn-Arashan and Boz-Uchuk Lakes treks are great. If I had to choose only one I’d suggest the Boz-Uchuk trek for the scenery and also the fact that you’ll likely have the trail to yourself as it’s less crowded. I consulted the Lonely Planet writer who recently updated the Kyrgyzstan guide as he did both treks recently and he also agreed. No matter which trek you choose, you can’t go wrong!

Me and my friend are now looking at Jyrgalan Valley Boz-Uzhuk Lake 3 days/2nights horse trekking tour. I would like to ask your opinion- compared to Ala-Kol/Altyn-Arashan lake trek- which one of those two trekking options (Boz-Uzhuk or Ala-Kol/Altyn-Arashan is more scenic and beautiful? 🙂
We can only choose one because of short time we have for our vacation.

Thank you,
Ausra

A great blend of history, culture & food with an excellent guide. This is a real asset to showcase what Karakol has on offer (plenty!) I was surprised at the professional approach, now I see your involvement & understand a bit better. Fantastic work, really enhanced our trip to Kyrgyzstan.

Great to hear that you’re headed to Karakol soon! I believe that the first snow has already fallen so it might be a lovely winter wonderland right now. And, if you like skiing or snowboarding the ski base is open 🙂 Have a great trip!

True that, Larry. Our experiences throughout Central Asia over the years seem to prove that. And our visits to Kyrgyzstan, 10 years apart, reaffirm that. They also suggest that the culture that drew us there in the first place surely endures.
