Pramesh, we have colleagues in Nepal so we have heard some stories about how challenging both last year and this year has been to Nepal and the tourism sector. It will still likely take more time before international travel will return, and this will be impacted also by the vaccine rollout in different countries. Like you, we do hope the pandemic will end soon so that travelers can explore again and local people can share of their local culture and nature with travelers. We know how many people are dependent upon tourism for their livelihoods.

The year has been rough for Nepal’s tourism industry. The long awaited Nepal Tourism Year 2020 was brought to a complete halt and any movements within the country was prohibited for more than 6 months. However, the authorities have finally permitted unlimited international flights with “Necessary Measures” since October. This has at least brought a small glimmer of hope to bring back alive the tourism industry.

At the end, the hope is to end this pandemic as soon as possible and amend lives back to normal.

Sonia, glad you enjoyed this article and that you’re appreciation has increased of all the opportunities and beautiful places close to you in Malaysia. I imagine that there is SO much still to discover there. We’ve also enjoyed the time we’ve had in Berlin (where we live) to explore its different neighborhoods, parks, forests and other areas, mostly by bicycle. Although we thought we knew the city well, we feel that there is still so much to learn and see! It’s fun to use one’s “traveler’s eyes” at home and explore it in a similar way.

Regarding subscribing to the newsletter, I followed up about that by email. Hopefully you received either that or the confirmation email 🙂

Thanks for this article. I for one was at the beginning extremely disappointed at all flight cancellations and what it would do to my blog when I have all of a sudden discovered that hundreds of lovely opportunities lay in front of me and I just need to pick them up. Currently residing in Malaysia, I have set my mind on turning every stone of this country and find solace in exploring the seemingly known, which is actually super unknown 🙂 I believe that local and sustainable tourism is the answer and an opportunity in times like this. Of course at some point we will need to go elsewhere just to change the scenery but apparently exploring can be done even not so far from our homes.

Where are you currently and how does it look over there?

BTW I tried to subscribe several times to your of but received no confirmation email.

BTW . Loved your article Ed about the barber in KL:) super humorous!
