Certainly the wildlife is a critical dimension of the Antarctica experience, but I enjoyed the experience in its entirety. There was something about the place, its distance from everywhere else both physically and emotionally, and the history of the explorers who’d made their way there when ships like ours were only a dream. One could argue that the atmosphere of Antarctica alone makes it worth a visit:
